The blueberries on "snow" were part of our Inuit studies and weren't included in MFW's studies, neither was the longhouse. We made the longhouse after our field trip so it could be used on the scene my children painted.

Activities for the Week:We learned how to draw a horse's head. We then cut out the outline making sure we had a blank piece of paper behind the one we were cutting so that we could make a horse's head that could be stapled together around the edges. This is our completed scene with teepees, wigwams, a horse chestnut for a pot, some sticks for a fire, coloured brown felt for deer skin, and some birch bark for a "canoe." Grace drew this after our discussion on the topics listed in the title. She tested her colours on another sheet to see if they would blend. She was careful to draw her dog as the first layer before doing the background. Texture was added to her dog but she grew tired of colouring it in at the end. I figure we can always return to it or it can be a multi-coloured dog.

We have been talking about the sun and moon. We've also been talking about how "Jesus is the Light of the World," and how we are to be the light of the world as we reflect His light. We put some foamies onto some toilet paper rolls. I thinned out some paint and put a thin layer on a plate. Grace rolled the toilet paper rolls in the paint and was able to make some prints on her paper. She then proceeded to paint and do whatever she wanted with red paint.

Grace draws a lot and cuts a lot of paper. So, her scraps usually end up in an envelope. What I've done recently is cut the scraps into shapes or articles of clothing, as seen below. Grace and I read Matthew 14:22-33 about how Jesus walked on the water to meet His friends who were in a boat. After reading through the Bible we ended up making the first picture together. I included quotes from the individuals in the story. Then, Grace made her own picture, which can be seen below. It was a simple craft and the materials provided are easy to see in the pictures.

A few weeks ago when I decided to become more focused on doing a craft for Grace on Sundays, I just cut up some hearts and talked to her about how the Lord wants all of our hearts. I was going to mix up our paint so it was brown but thought it might be more fun to let Grace enjoy making the nativity scene with a mix of colours. We used a box from some frozen foods that we could glue together to make a three-dimensional nativity scene (see below) As you can see, we left one side unpainted.
